It goes so fast
elementary to junior high … high school – to the Navy.
Big decisions.

There are several milestones that we pass as we run through a lifetime
and senior graduation is one of them. I know this … ‘Mom’ knew this …
and so a morning was planned to celebrate, remember, look ahead,
look back, and generally have a good time.
It’s really not just the pictures that will be valued and treasured but
the time spent together making them as well, as a memory … knowing
it was thought important to mark the time and celebrate ‘you’.
Some coffee, danish … and 2 hours in a beautiful day for
one special girl …

Make a point of marking your own accomplishments and the measure of life,
a birth … 1st birthday … yearly family … graduation … wedding.
Have your picture taken with your new baby … your second baby …
Celebrate your own 30th birthday … your 40th, 50th, and
“sensational at 60” with portraits of ‘you’.
Get the yearly family update, special days … the anniversary.
Choose a photographer who knows how to make you look your best and
most comfortable in front of a camera, guiding you in posing.
You’ll never regret having done it,
and your “family down the line” will treasure it!

Congratulations Corissa!

Prints last. Digital files will not.
Prints have ‘place and presence’ on your wall or tabletop while a digital file
will only be accessible as long as storage and retrieval remains the same.
While we all should be updating and saving collections in a current method
in order to keep them available, what fun (and how much work) is that?
Truthfully, CD and DVD have already joined the ‘8 track’, zip disk,
cassette tape and floppy as ‘history’!

This picture has survived over 50 years because it was a valued print,
while just recently I lost forever a digital file from last summer
(unintentionally of course – and isn’t it always unintentional?).
Fortunately I had printed copies of that most important picture,
the only one we have of all 16 of us together,
from 3 different states and the island of Guam.

If it’s a print, it’s easily placed in your hands.
If it’s a file – who knows where it will be next week,
next year, or if you’ll even remember having it!

If you love them, CARE to keep them around.
In years to come, family will be looking for those valuable pictures,
and they won’t be looking in your phone!

First day of Spring and the forecast reads
“a deep freeze with snow in the higher elevations”.
One of these days spring really WILL arrive and the farm will again be available
for pictures (or Subway salads in the iron lawn chair).
We’re ready and waiting (come eat lunch with me)!

Since “Tornado 2016”, the land has gone through major remodeling.
Lots of cleanup over a year and half with huge stumps being hauled away by flatbed:

Saturday after Saturday of burning brush (and roasting hot dogs) and this
spring will be the first time to see the new look without clutter.

We can now start to think again about creating settings instead of cleaning,
cutting, stacking and burning (done primarily by farmer and sons).
It’s time to put up fence, buy cows … plant sunflowers!

Many people have helped us get to this point by offering an extra set of hands,
a chainsaw, or chipper … or an afternoon to pick up limbs and stack wood.
Thank you!
